Nursing Councils

Nursing Councils

At HackensackUMC, our shared governance structure enables nurses from all settings and roles to actively participate in organization-wide decision-making. Nursing is present and is an active participant in all levels of decision-making within the organization.

Nursing councils give our nurses a voice – an opportunity to influence decisions and make recommendations that affect nursing practice, the delivery of care and their work environment.

Our nurses participate in interdisciplinary and nursing councils, where they share their ideas and partner with other council members to develop and implement specific project plans. Nursing Ideas Submission is another platform giving nurses the chance to communicate their ideas and suggestions to the Coordinating Council through the Nursing page on the HackensackUMC Intranet. This ensures that our nurses are being heard as they seek new innovations, improvements and transparency. Our shared decision-making council structure is at the heart of it all.
