Lani Garris, MAS, BSN, RN, CNOR, Administrative Director, Ambulatory Perioperative Services
Lani Garris is an experienced perioperative administrative director who has led new and established Ambulatory Surgery and Endoscopy departments. She has 25 years of operating room experience. In her 25 years of nursing experience, she worked in the Operating Room for 12 years and was promoted to manager of Ambulatory Surgery. Ms. Garris was integral to the development and opening of the Dermatologic, Mohs, and Laser Surgery Department and was the administrative director of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery. For the past six years, Ms. Garris has been the administrative director for Ambulatory Perioperative Services, which includes The Center for Ambulatory Surgery, Inpatient and Outpatient Endoscopy, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and the Pre-Anesthesia Evaluation Department. The Ambulatory division consistently achieves the 90th percentile for patient satisfaction as measured by Press Ganey. Ms. Garris strongly believes in furthering education and becoming certified in a specialty of nursing. Due to the high certification rates of the nurses in the Operating Room, HackensackUMC was designated as a CNOR Strong facility by the Competency and Credentialing Institute (CCI), our credentialing center.
Ms. Garris completed her BSN at St. Peter’s College and her MAS at Fairleigh Dickinson University. She is currently enrolled at Chamberlain College of Nursing to obtain an MSN in the Executive Track. Ms. Garris is a member of Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN), New Jersey State Nurses Association (NJSNA), and American Organization of Nurse Executives (AONE). She has received Honorable Mention Awards in Finance and Patient Satisfaction in the Outpatient Surgery Magazine for OR Excellence in 2012 and 2015. She won the Helmsman Award at HackensackUMC for her department’s gainsharing achievements. Ms. Garris was also the recipient of the 2015 Nurse Excellence Award for Management at HackensackUMC.
