MDs Recognizing RNs!

Dr. Ruiz, one of our cardiovascular physicians, got a new look at the importance of excellent patient care when he spent time as a patient himself in our Surgical ICU.  Read his story from a recent issue of JACC: Cardiovascular Interventions.

DR._CARLOS_RUIZ

“Physicians are unable to be with patients throughout the entire healing process, but nurses are there day in and day out. Their endless compassion and attentive care is the foundation for healing and I can personally attest to it. We must all not only thank, but recognize and show gratitude for the work our nurses do daily.”

-Dr. Carlos Ruiz

Hackensack Hospital School of Nursing Alumni

Ruth Helen Murray
ALUM_CERTIFICATE

Last year, leadership was notified of an alumnus of Hackensack Hospital School of Nursing residing in Newton, NJ.  Her name is Ruth Helen Murray.  Her son and daughter-in-law, William and Margaret Critchley, reached out notifying us of her compassion with fellow residents from holding their hands to helping others to their rooms or listening to their aches and pains.  She celebrated her 98th birthday on October 3rd, 2016 and we were there to celebrate with her!  Francine DeLuise, Administrative Supervisor of Clinical Education, and Joan Murko, another long standing Hackensack Hospital School of Nursing graduate and friend of HackensackUMC, attended a birthday celebration for Ruth and presented her with a Certificate of Appreciation for 78 years of outstanding service, compassionate care, and dedication to patients!  We believe her to be one of the oldest (living) graduates of Hackensack Hospital School of Nursing, Class of 1938!

THANK YOU RUTH!
