Quality Pillar

Providing high-quality patient care is only one of the indicators that make HackensackUMC the #1 Hospital in New Jersey.  Through a reduction in hospital acquired infections, readmissions, and length of stay, among many others, we continue to be the leading example in elevating the standards of quality patient care.

Hospital Acquired Infections - Comparison by Conditions

In 2016 we proved that less is more by reducing our HAIs!

HAI_COMPARE
Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs) are not only impactful to our patients but also to the organization.  The cost of a CAUTI can range from $1,000-$3,800 while the cost of CLABSI can range from $21,400 to $110,800!  By decreasing the number of infections, the cost savings, although no comparison to a patient’s life, is far greater than the cost. With 11 less CAUTIs the organization had a cost savings from $11,000 to $41,800.  With seven less CLABSIs we save between $149,800 to $775,600.  Imagine how many more lives and money we can save with less infections!
